This product is great. Get rid of all wrinkles with ease. It is so lightweight which is surprising because the iron is huge. I had to buy a wall mount because it us so big. But irons great. May even cute some of your time down from ironing

I do a lot of sewing and keep my ironing board set up to iron seams open, pre iron material etc. and just general ironing. I love this iron, it is great quality, not too heavy, heats up quickly, doesn’t fall over and the cord never gets in the way. The only downside is there is no off switch so I always have to unplug it when I take a break from my sewing instead of just turning it off. The temperature control dial has minimum to maximum temp but no off/on. Otherwise, it is a great iron and I would recommend it.
Gurpreet –
I am using this product but it did n meet my expectation just money waste

This is a nice sturdy iron. Steady steam and heat all the way to the tip. I always bought high-end irons in the past, and this is just as nice.

Especially like the recoil of the wire. And it works well.

My older iron worked better, not so heavy or cumbersome. Controls are awkward and iron too big and slow to respond to heat setting. Not at all intuitive.

Only complaint I have is the cord could be longer.
Except for that , the quality is good.

I used this iron maybe 3/4 times and it no longer heats up. I’ve tried different settings, another outlet, and with/without water. Maybe I was sent a dysfunctional product. Too bad it is outside my return window 🙁

Light weight and easy to handle….except it leaks water when you are using it.

For the first two times I used it, it was a wonderful iron. The third time, it failed to turn on, and now I need to get a new iron. This sucks. I am beyond the 30 day return period and have a non-functional appliance.

Cons:

The retractable cord doesn’t retract all the way like I hoped it would. That was a feature I really wanted. It is a nice iron, though, but I am disappointed about the cord leaving 40 inches out of the iron. Five or six would be no problem. I am keeping the iron. I haven’t tried the steamer for clothes. I hope that works. I like that it’s a little heaver than other irons. Not too heavy, but just right.

Got this iron mainly for its price and the amount of people that have purchased it. It is advertised with a vertical steam option like a steamer would do. It does not work. I ordered a replacement iron the next day and it doesn’t work on either iron. I’ve pressed the steam button to make it work and without pressing it, it doesn’t work either way. Why advertise something if it isn’t available?!

Being a very fussy ironer, I have learned over multiple decades of ironing that price does not necessarily correlate with the most useful and sturdy irons. While I have strayed a time or two, I have learned to go right to Black & Decker when in need of a new iron. I chose this particular B&D model for my recent purchase as it was on the Good Housekeeping recommended irons. Water tank is good sized to complement the well functioning steam feature.

LindaBJohnson –
This iron is good quality but it has a “feature” that as a quilter I find extremely annoying. Automatic steam at high temperatures. Sometimes we need a little steam, not enough to fill a large sauna, and if you want only a little steam, you have to lower the temperature. It’s made for people who are unsure when to use steam, so this takes the guesswork out of it for novice iron users.
I would have returned it but of course the return window closed before I opened the box. Probably will buy another iron. At least it doesn’t leak like the Rowenta I was replacing!
Ryan MacKay –
Steam button broke in less than a year. Brittle plastic. Also awkward to add water.

I can’t believe I paid less than $22 for this iron! It’s the best iron I’ve ever had, and my last iron was a Rowenta that was more than $100. I found it on the Better Homes and Garden reviews for 2020. They loved it too. One of the testers also said it was the best Iron she had ever used. Large Teflon plate, tons of steam, lightweight, looks great, feels great.
A Scotty Kilmer fan –
Steam nearly as thick a fog!
DG –
I gave one star because:
1. There was water in the steam chamber. I thought I was buying a new item, not a used one.
2. When I sent email, I haven’t received a reply!

Lightweight easy to use. Awesome steam
Suzanne Adkisson –
This iron works fine but the design is poor. The little door you need to open to add water is difficult to open because the temperature dial is right in front of it. If you have very little fingers perhaps you will have an easier time grabbing the too small pull tab and not crushing your cuticles into the temperature dial. My fingers are just normal size and I find it annoying and rather painful. It is also obvious after one use that the retractable cord will be annoying and probably cease functioning soon. For a company that has been producing irons for years, I did not expect such a design flaw. I would not recommend this iron for that reason and I will be replacing this one shortly.

I bought this iron, and because it was so inexpensive, I threw out the box. First time using my iron, the iron automatically went into auto shut off mode within seconds. The iron does not fully heat up or work properly. If I unplug the iron, the iron will turn back on, start to heat up again, and then immediately go into auto shut off mode.
Norma Garcia –

I dont know why since I only had my computer and sewing machine plugged in at the same time but as it was heating up the breaker popped.

This is fun, my grandson asked me what the thing was behind my bedroom door…Ironing board. He then asked what it does. Then he wanted to know what that thing on the top shelf of my closet was…an iron from the 70’s…I tried to show him how t worked. Guess what it did not work the ironing board did but not the iron. I laughed so hard. This new one should be so lucky as to last as long as the last one did. It works so well I am impressed.

The cord is too short which is the most important problem.
James Stewart –
I don’t need anything fancy, because I almost never iron anything, but when you DO need an iron there’s absolutely no substitute. You just need an iron. This one does exactly what it’s supposed to, weighs almost nothing, and caused no trouble.
Diane R –
I loved that it said that it was leak proof, but it isn’t! Very disappointed. I have alot if sewing to do before Christmas and really needed this! Very upset with Black +Decker.
Austin Ellis –
For the price I think it works fine. I use it several times a week and have been for a few months now on my dress shirts and slacks. It does what I need it to nothing more nothing less. If this one ever breaks I would probably buy it again.

I received this product in fairly good condition i have not had the chance to use it yet so i cannot speak to its effectiveness. I came to right this review right away because it was immediately clear that this item is used. I was not aware of this and i went back to the product page right after receiving it to check. I still cannot find any indication there that it is a used product. I have no problem with buying something used however I am confused and very disappointed that I did not know that I wasn’t purchase if a new product.

Filling my old iron was easy, I didn’t have to lay the iron down or unplug the iron to refill. This iron I lay it down and use a measuring cup as suggested, it works fine. Very happy overall with this iron.
Jonathan Martinez –
Great steam
Good temp so make sure you use the correct temperature for whatever you iron
Great value
Peter M. –
There seems to be a pretty large gap between the rear of the sole plate and the plastic housing. I can see wires and electronic connectors through this gap. It seem that water could easily get in. See pictures 2 and 3. Does anyone else see this? Is it a manufacturing defect? I’ve used the iron a few times, but my wife just noticed this today.

This is a very lightweight iron that quickly presses out wrinkles with little effort. The water level indicator (for steam) is easily visible and it’s simple to fill. It has a lengthy cord that maneuvers sideways with the irons position.

I lost my iron when I moved across three states must be in the U-Haul somewhere. So I wanted a light weight iron because I?? ??ld??in my own opinion. This is a very nice iron except the retractable cord upon my first shoes would not retract. They said they would send me a new iron when they came in they didn?? know when that might be in the meantime I was to immediately cut the plug off the cord and stop using the iron. OK so who irons my clothes then? I can use it even if the retractable cord isn?? working! I wouldn?? deal with this company again the iron is OK
Melvin M. –
This iron is definitely used, it had water in it. I don’t even want to try it, I’m returning it and will just get something from Walmart
LInda swearengen –
I plan to donate this iron and buy a different brand. Why would an engineer or product designer use a dark plastic for the water-fill line? You cannot see where the water level is.

Would hardly use this iron (maybe once or twice a week), on light weight dresses and simple office shirts. Havent even had the iron for that long and it suddenly died!
All I hear is a click when i plug it in but that is it.
This is the 2nd B&D iron, and the 3rd B&D product which has died within a span of less than 2 years.
Shameful that their quality and life of the products have going down drastically over the years!
Or house is child free, and pet free, so no over or heavy use of the iron either to be able to justify the sudden dying of the iron!!!
Ale Alexander –
It was an excellent purchase for the price, but the cleaning it’s quite inconvenient, the buttons are quite hard, if you have arthritis… good luck trying to press the auto-cleaning button. Also be careful with the cord reel.
Ankia –
First of all I received a used iron. I wish I opened the box earlier as the return window is now closed. I needed it to iron a heavy duty sweat shirt this morning but upon unboxing this iron I noticed that there was water inside as if it was drained and repackaged. So I prayed to god that I it worked but it was by far the absolute worst iron I bought EVER! I can see why the previous buyer returned this. It didn’t get hot enough, then it got too hot. I wouldn’t get it to steam unless it was turned up to the max which was too hot for my garment. It took forever to iron one thing. Throwing this away immediately!

Melissa Busby –
I have bought enough irons to know that whether you buy inexpensive or costly, they all get hot. The difference is in the features and a retractable cord was most important to me. This one is disappointing. It does not always retract all the way and every time I have to “mess with it” for the cord to go all the way in. I initially thought “you get what you pay for” and this one was (relatively) inexpensive. But no… this is not a complicated feature and if it’s there it should work. I wouldn’t purchase this again.

The iron does glide smoothly. The iron has to lie flat to refill the water. There is no OFF setting so you have to unplug it. The steam is so strong that it’s easy to burn yourself while holding the material to be steamed.

Overall works as advertised.
Dennis M English –
It is a nice iron. Not too heavy. I use it for quilting and it gets wrinkles out of my fabric. Nice seams also.
Gretchen –
I am disappointed by two features.
1. the body of the iron which shows the level of water in the tank is a very dark translucent color. You can?? see how much water is in the reservoir, even though there is a Max Fill line marked on the outside of the iron.
2. You cannot turn off the steam when you select the higher temps (cotton, linen, wool). The ??mart sensor??for steam means that the iron AUTOMATICALLY steams when you use the high heat settings. You cannot disable it. (I think that function should have been clearly explained in the description before buying it.). On the lower heat settings, no steam unless you use the burst of steam button.
Other than those two things, the iron works fine and heats up as expected. It is not an expensive purchase, I am using it. However, I have never owned an iron that I could not turn OFF the steam

This iron stopped working after a month. Too late to return item so had to contact Black+Decker. They said the item was made by a different manufacturer (Spectrum) so I would have to get warranty through them. Black+Decker, this item has your name on it. No matter who made the product, you are selling it under your name. So you should address any warranty issues. Instead of telling me you will have the manufacturer contact me. And they don’t even contact me. This iron is going in the trash and I won’t be purchasing anything else with Black+Decker on it. I suggest anyone looking at this item look for another brand.
Carmen Blakney –
They is a great iron ! I love the functions and also the retractable cord and the self cleaning function ????????
PQ777 –
I?? somewhat of an iron snob. I previously paid a lot of money for a fancy iron that ended up leaking. I replaced that one 3 times with same results. This little bad boy works great! No leaks, heats quickly, shuts off automatically as designed. I??e recommended this to my quilting friends.
Jane –
This is a very large iron. It began to leak water during the second use. The cord would not fully retract after using twice.
Guiseppe –
Love it—a true bargain and then some!
Scott –
I like the iron. The only con is the water reservoir. It’s very difficult to see how much water is in it.
Lily –
Love this iron. The cord retracts it’s functional and designed beautifully. Happy with purchase.
Michelle –
Very satisfied
Andrea Seabridge –
Does the job and is more attractive than most irons.
bibliophile –
Excellent for basic tasks. Lightweight and handles well. Happy with this product.
Sandra –
After some good research I thought I found the perfect iron but I was wrong. This stopped working after 1 week!!!!!! ONE WEEK!!!!! I am beyond frustrated and don’t think I can ever trust a Black and Decker product again!!!!!
Paula Pickens –
Nothing to dislike
jeff moczygemba –
Bought this back in september because my other one stopped working after a couple of years. I didn’t want to spend as much this time… maybe i should have. While this one works well i don’t like that they’re is no off setting it does turn off on its own but i am paranoid and i world like to be able to turn it off without having to unplug it… also it had only been 4 months and the plate is getting scorch marks on it already. It does do a good job on the amount of steam but i just feel like i should have spent a bit more for one that is better quality and one that i won’t be replacing soon
WJBH –
My wife and I iron almost daily and the automatic steam function is above and beyond anything we have had before. Makes ironing a breeze.
Alonzo –
I selected this iron based on the brand and two features that set it apart. Unlike the vast majority of other choices in the market, on this iron the temperature control knob is very visible on the top of the unit, and – importantly – not placed where one’s knuckles can easily change the setting while one is ironing. Even very expensive alternative models and brands have adopted that vulnerable temp knob position right under the grip. It should be rule that people who design products must use them at least once. The other nice feature is that the cord is not retractable; it is clear in the many reviews of other irons that the retracting mechanisms do not do well with users. It may be that the users are trying to push kinked and/or twisted cords back into the unit, but having the cord wrap around the base with a clip (as with this iron) seems a much better approach to cord management.
The “non-fatal flaw” in the headline is the very disappointing, if not disturbing, design of the door/flap that opens to let pour water into the iron. It apparently broke off on first use, but maybe it is not broken but rather held in place by two tiny plastics bumps that tenuously fit into two tiny indentations on the flap. While it is possible to force the piece back into place, over time this is only going to make the bumps and indents less effective than the are upon first use (not very). It may help to sand down the curved front edge of the flap and to put one’s finger on it while lifting the other end to open it, to lessen the mechanical shock produced when it snaps open, but how regrettable that an otherwise fine product is marred by this cheesy/cheap arrangement! It should be okay to continue to use the iron after this part fails, but is a sad commentary on the devolution of consumer products over the past decades.
J. Collins –
I liked how easily I could control the temperature. It was so light weight and glided easily over difficult wrinkles! The cost was very inexpensive comparatively!
Vase –
Iron is fine, but the rewind doesn’t work. There’s still about 2ft of cord that won’t role into the machine.
J. S. Harvey –
Iron works Fantastic , love Hunter Green Color
Patricia –
I should’ve checked the measurements. I expected a standard size iron like I was replacing. VERY large.
Dolores –
Easy to use.
Aynsley –
Iron or Steam; good appliance. I am not big on ironing so when I have to I want an efficient tool. Took me a few minutes to understand how to use the steam control but love that I can hold it upright vertically for steam, great for the winter drapes. The design when used horizontally is excellent for those unique garments. Try it, you’ll like it.
Tharindu Hirantha –
It does the job for me
Gerald A. Vanslambrouck –
I love this iron! Mine old one recently died when ironing some napkins for a dinner. So I borrowed one from my next door neighbor. It was an older model of the B&D iron and also had the cord reel. It was a joy to use, so bought the newest model.
Bob –
Ease of use??Style: nonstick soleplate with retractable cord
Jim C. –
like the pull cord and design and the temp control that is always visible. However, the dial is just numbers… have to keep referring the the instructions for dial control for ‘cotton’ vs ‘acrilyc’. B&D should have the fabrics/numbers written on the base… No need for instruction book..
i like the style though.. again works as described.
Anita –
My only issue is that the retractable cord gets stuck when you try to retract it and it takes multiple attempts to get it back in. The iron itself works great though
Coralceas –
Wish it had an On/Off button. I feel like I have to unplug it every time.
Charlene –
I don’t like this iron. I find it much too heavy and too large for a woman who has very small hands. Also, when you try to remove the water from the iron, the way to do this is very cumbersome. The iron works fine but I don’t like it because of the above problems.
Dutchess –
The iron is pretty good, however it leaks sometimes. It’s light weight and easy to handle.
Just My Thoughts –
I had a top-of-the line expensive iron that died after a couple of years. I didn’t want to spend that kind of money for an iron, so I went with this Black & Decker. Honestly, it does just as good a job as the high-end iron.
Esther Rosenbaum –
Inexpensive but really good!!
Donetta M. Lausch –
I do not do a lot of ironing, but needed one for when I do. I liked this iron and Black and Decker is a good brand. After very few uses in the past 8 months, the iron no longer gets hot. It quit working as I was ironing a pair of slacks. It’s too late to return.
C. Bates –
I don’t particularly like the way the cord get in the way when I place the Iron upright. It’s a little hard to see the water level. I love the way it irons, so smooth and with steam. My clothes come out great and it’s a pleasure to iron!
Pradeep Bhandari –
Irons quick, saves time.
Rhonda –
I’ve always had trouble with irons leaking or not getting hot enough. This is the first one I’ve ever used that doesn’t have these issues.
Lightweight and easy to Han handle.
Super value for the price.
Kelly Cook –
What I really like about the Black and Decker Vitessa is the steam this iron creates. Cottons press crisp and looks good.
Elleng –
After my 20 year old Norelco iron stopped working properly I did some research on 2021 top picks. This was one of the top rated. It is FABULOUS! It’s easy to use right out of the box (although reading the instructions gives you a few good tips). It’s easy to maneuver but is weighted enough to give golf shirts a great press (and everything in between). I thought the soleplate was too short, but it is actually the perfect length. It’s easy to get into plackets, sleeves, shoulders and iron small tabs along with everything else. Filling with water can be done without a measuring cup and it’s so easy to see the reservoir. No more dripping iron from overfilling! I regretfully have to say I’m starting to like to iron.
MB –
Out of the many options available I?? so glad that I settled on this iron. It heats up quickly and is very light weight. What once was a chore is now an effortless task. Thank you for this product.
izetta kendall –
Was not the exact iron I expected.
john –
The retractable cord does not retract – the water holder door is extremely hard to open. Waste of your money!!!
sl2003 –
Iron is easy to use and maneuver. Quickly irons out wrinkles. My favorite aspect is the retractable cord feature, which makes storage easy.
Julie Street –
The best iron for sure. Very lightweight heats up quickly. Does a great job. Highly recommend the price is amazing over the years I have spent much more than this on an iron by far this is excellent value for the price.
Lynn Taylor –
Tess Franc –
Love this iron, very light & so easy to use, for very little cost.
And also love the colour.
Tha?s Celles Moreira –
It’s easy, beautiful and the steam function it’s amazing!
Diana Matar –
Affordable price, its not heavy, doesnt take up much time to heat
Garry –
It has enough weight to make ironing easy. Easy to seehow much water is in the reservoir. Heats quickly.
Heather Eggert –
Needed an iron ASAP and this one suits my needs. Automatic shut off and a steam option. Good value
Lea Lamontagne –
Il est ok
Kaya Daley –
Lightweight, works great and I love the color and retractable cord.
Kara –
This iron arrived ONE WEEK ahead of schedule! Very impressed with the shipping experience. The iron is great and gets the job done! It has an auto shut-off feature that could come in handy one day. Also, it has an auto-clean feature that I will definitely take advantage of. Overall, it’s a great iron for a reasonable price.
Enam Hussain –
This was an open, already used item. I needed the iron so I couldn’t return but this was a previously used item with water in it.
Deborah lapier –
Easy to use and good value for money
Kamal –
Good Value for money
Ali –
The only reason not giving it 5 star is the water level in the tank is not clearly visible.
Other than that it’s great.
Steam volume, build quality… overall lovely
Steve –
It kind of does the job. Takes a while to heat up. Buttons are flimsy. Didn’t get instructions inside…had to go online. So you kind of get what you pay for.
GlobalFoodie –
Good quality compact iron with steamer… Easy to use and small enough for storage.
Boatracer –
did everything as advertised
sciotobelle –
Only drawback was couldn?? turn steam off when in cotton mode. Had to empty water each time I didn?? want steam.
sparky57 –
I can’t believe an iron that cost $20. is this good. It heats well, produces a lot of steam and is easy to handle. I am very pleased with it.
Saket Kapur –
Did not even last 6 months. Bought it in mid January. Thought B&D is reputed brand. Stopped heating yesterday out of the blue. Return window closed in February. Have emailed their support so let’s see how it goes.
Very disappointed for now.
weegs –
I like that you can use tap water instead of distilled water. Also like the Teflon finish. I found the retractable cord doesn?? work so great. The cord only goes in 1/2 way.
M.L. –
It works as well as you use it properly. Use distilled/filtered water for the steamer to prevent clogs. DO NOT USE TAP/HARD WATER.
RJones –
I purchased this as a replacement for our 10 year old iron that was the same model.
The new one is a huge disappointment.
1. It leaks like crazy. Literally soaked a foot and half of my ironing board.
2. The spray does not work. It drips down the front on both sides.
3. The ready light does not work.
4. It turns itself off while ironing. This never happened with my old model.
5. The cord twists and does not retract properly.
Albert V. –
Cord that recoils.
kelsey –
When I add water for steam it leaks all over. This is terrible. I want a replacement
Lois Powell –
I like everything about it
Marge –
Well when steaming the water for steaming drips out under the spray and burst of steam buttons
vivian reveron –
great iron
Lesli –
La plancha parece que esta husada, llego con agua en el vaporisador
deana –
Love how you just press a button for the cord
Astrid Romero –
Muy buen producto.
hcw –
It’s very light weight and easy to use. Works like a charm and at a good price.

Ironing out wrinkles.
Tabi Hollingsworth –
I actually returned this item, the cord would not retract, it just wouldn’t work correctly, it seemed cheaply made.
Frida –
I ordered this product because I had one that lasted me about 5 years before it stopped heating up. Same brand but different style. Once I received this iron I was so excited to use it. I was about to iron my shirt. I plug in the iron and once it was hot I started to smell something when all of a sudden I see smoke coming out of the iron. I immediately unplugged it. So please do not waste your time.
SLGolfer60 –
Not quite what was expected
Mark Dobrohorsky –
Great product! Great price! Lots of steam!
Manuel Cristopher –
muy bien…
Jane Hoppe, author –
Lightweight and nimble, this iron’s pointed tip smooths the tightest seams. My only complaint so far is that the water level is a bit hard to see on the side. Maybe it’s the light in my basement, I don’t know. Another nice thing is that this iron does not need distilled water; it can use tap water.
elise lynn –
i wish i unboxed this sooner, i used it and its leaking. i want to return and get refund
Nancy A. –
Llego super r?pido ,el articulo cumple con todo lo descripto se mira de buena calidad.

Leaking water while ironing
customer –
This iron is harder to slide than others ive used.
curlytop –
I primarily use an iron for sewing and quilting so use lots of steam. This iron produces perfect steam and heat for setting seams and getting rid of wrinkles. It is lightweight, glides easily on the fabric and is a delight to use. It does seem to leak occasionally when I add water, but that may just be my technique. Would highly recommend this iron.
Sara Poston –
Liked that it is light weight
